I saw posts on here from ladies who were having trouble exercising due to back pain/weakness or because they are so heavy that they have trouble moving enough. I joined an Aquacize class (some call it water aerobics) & it's the BEST activity I have tried. I am 66 .... the youngest in my class is in her early 50s & weighs well over 300 pounds .... the oldest is 79 & has the best figure of us all. It's the least judgemental class (no one can see you under the water) & the best stress relief EVER. In 45 minutes you burn about 250 calories; I have noticeably increased my mobility since I started just 4 months ago. I ride an elliptical on the days there are no classes .... have lost just a few pounds but between this site & those activities, I have lowered my blood pressure & feel very motivated about improving my health. By all means check with your doctor but get into the pool if you can!

Does it require equipment in the water? I have seen different stuff like water dumbells and belts just curious if that what it is? I guess I could Google it as well ;)

Here we call it acquagym and I've been doing it for over 20 yrs+swimming. We have all ages and sizes. We work in deep water with flotation belts, and use dumbbells or other stuff. It's a very good workout.

We occasionally use dumbells & pool noodles, supplied by the pool .... some of our class uses flotation belts, also supplied, although a couple of the ladies purchased their own ..... a lot of our sessions involve moderate jogging underwater, jumping jacks, etc, plus yoga moves like lunges .....

when i was living with my grandfather back in 2015, i joined the Y there (it was the ONLY gym in town) and they had a water zumba class that was a lot of fun.

I love the pool and water aerobics. I did the class from May-Oct twice a week, but it got cold. Even tho it's a heated outdoor pool. I still go in the pool sometime after workouts. One of the instructors was really good & it was a hard workout. We use water weights. Planing to go back to it soon as all this rain stops
