I'm allowed 2,280 calories a day and today I went to the gym and burned about 250 calories and when I logged it ..it added 250 calories to my calorie goal for the day ... so I can technically eat 2530 calories for the day or am I wrong?

OP - yes that is the way MFP is designed to work - ie yes, you are meant to eat back your exercise calories.
However many people find the exercise calories allotted are over inflated so they eat back part, say, 1/2 or 3/4, of them rather than the full given amount, to allow for this.1 -
