Is there a way to not have the app count my exercise into my daily cal allowance ? Would rather my exercising be a nice bonus

If you want to track your exercise there is an app called "Map My Fitness". You can keep track of your exercise but not have to worry about additional calories

    Don't log it.

But mfp is designed for you to add exercise so you're not in an unhealthy deficit so you might want to figure out your cals using your TDEE if you're not going to follow MFP

This. Or purchase Premium, which has the option of not adding exercise calories in. But as others have said, this is how MFP is designed to work.

You could also add the exercise in MFP and just note the total estimated Calories given. Then edit the number of Calories to 0.1, which will display as zero but not add the Calories to your daily goal. Then make an entry in the Exercise Notes for that day to keep a record of the total estimated Calories for that exercise.

I have a few friends who will create their own customized exercise and log 1 calorie. That might be an option
