I don't own a scale and I need to buy one. So far I've been guessing how many oz of meat I'm eating by putting it in a measuring cup or eyeballing it next to a deck of cards. Anybody got any tips for newbie?

Well, the scale is coming right? Just start using it when you get it. Weigh all solid and semi-solid food and condiments.0

They say to measure your meat by your palm of your hand when you don't have a food scale ... I have never measured it that way but I have heard it a lot0

I look at the packaging's "serving size to servings per container" then cut it up to resemble the servings it estimated. I found that usually one breast was 3 servings.. sometimes a little more.
I bought a bag of frozen breasts for 19.95. It says "100 calories per serving. Serving size 4 oz. Servings per container, about 40. There were 14 frozen breasts.. Well.. 3 times 14 is 42 so... close enough. 3 servings per breast then.0 -
Digital scale a must. You will never believthe difference in your guesses from a true measure, get a scale and try it you will be amazed at how you have been so wrong, and like me it was subataging my loss. Good luck1

My digital scale is the best purchase I ever made. As mentioned above, when I started using it I found that my previous estimates had sometime been way off - some over, others under. I definitely recommend getting one.1

I've been using cups and spoons solely. I've lost thirty pounds with another twenty/thirty to go. I may need to round DOWN the closer I get to goal, but I'm good with what I'm doing.0

I have been thinking about buying a scale and after reading the good reviews I will go looking to buy one. I measure by cup, spoon, palm size (for meat), and divide portions by package nutrition info.0
