Not sure where this goes?

Hi all,
I'm a tall slim man with a big belly, imagine slender man with a beer belly!
I want to lose the belly and beef up a bit everywhere else and just have my body be in proportion.
I know my belly comes from a bad diet and so far this year I've cut down on the junk and started eating healthier instead. I've started doing the couch to 5k program and do 10 mins of cross trainer each day. I never used to exercise.
I seem to have lost more weight on my arms, wedding ring is loose and watch is too, my belly probably has a bit but I'm not seeing it on my belt holes yet.
I know I can't take weight just off my belly and heard it's the last place to lose the fat, but I don't want my arms to get anymore thinner, I want to build them up!
What are my options?
I want to keep with the running because my ambition is to do a 10k run by the end of the year.
Thanks for reading and I look forward to your replies.

Well to lose the belly fat, you will need to have a deficit. If you want to build some muscle or at least try, a good progressive overload lifting program would be ideal. If you are new to exercise, your body is primed to be able to build a few lbs of muscle. So follow a program like one found in a link will put you in a good situation for that. I would probably have a small deficit (around 250 to 500 calories) and protein around .8g per lb of weight

Thanks for your reply psulemon I shall take a look at the link you've supplied.
I know I'm not hitting anywhere near .8g of protein per lb, maybe a third at the most.

Are you at a normal weight for your height or do you still need to lose weight? You describe yourself as slender, with just a belly....so, I'm wondering if you really just need to build muscle. Pick a progressive lifting program, hit your macros, and build some muscle!

I've hit my target weight of 14 stone. I used to be a little over 15 stone. I'm 6'4". I thought my belly would have gone by the time I hit my target weight.

Maybe try a recomp. Eat maintenance calories, follow a lifting program. Build muscle, lose fat.
