One of my friends a long time ago did a 2 day water and fresh fruit fast "just because". Said she felt renewed. Her thinking was clear and she could handle things better.

Sure, go for it. I wouldn't get past 6 hours without turning into a nasty ***** though. Food is fuel for me!0

I have personally done somegthing different, which was to eat just natural fruit juice all day long and to eat until the next day, once a week, for 2 months. I lost around 10 pounds. It really worked but it was hard to maintain the same weight afterwards. By the day you fast, you feel very weak, so it is not recommended as a permanent habit. Still, I did it just to try and it helped.0

You could go two days of drinking water and eating fruit but it wouldn't be fasting. Fasting is eating nothing and drinking water exclusively (although black coffee is considered okay). For myself, eating fruit only for two days would be a lot harder than eating nothing as the fruit would give me massive cravings. If you want to do it "just to see what it's like" I don't see any harm but it's not something I'd recommend you continue to do. What would be the point?0

It's your choice as you are the master of your own body. But I think there are many ways you could achieve that feeling of refreshment without depriving your body of fuel (:0

dont go past about 30-48 hours at that point its not safe0

I'd do it in a heartbeat if I weren't so food crazed. I can barely last till lunch.0

Absolutely. Some people find fasting a spiritual experience. That could be why all major religions include fasting as part of their dogma.0

Personally I think occasional fasting is a good thing. I think it really helped me get a handle on my unhealthy relationship with food. It helped me realize that hunger is not an emergency, and that I don't have to eat as soon as I feel the slightest hunger pang. I do IF too and it suits me pretty well.0

That time frame is very subjective. If someone has a medical condition like diabetes, they need to do a medically supervised fast. A healthy person can go on a juice fast for weeks and not see any negative effects.0 -
Are you talking about a juice fast? If so, I think it's a great way to recharge your body.
I did a 4 day juice fast - I juiced mostly vegetables and a little fruit, and drank plenty of water. I lost 7 pounds over those four days.
There are lots of testimonials on Youtube about juice fasting as well as recipes for tasty juices.
Fasting long term isn't for me - I don't know how anyone manages to do it for more than a few days and still have a life. But I think a short fast is great.
Also I think if you add juicing to your daily diet it will help with cravings and give you lots of health benefits.
I juice breakfast, part of lunch (I eat part of my lunch as well), and then eat a healthy snack and eat a healthy dinner and I feel great. I lose about 3 lbs a week on average right now.0 -
I've done it before, I say go for it. I have known people that have gone 41 days on a water fast and have a totally different outlook on life. Be careful though and choose which plan is right for you.0

The longest I have gone without eating is about 60 hours. I did drink water and coffee and take vitamins. These days I will occasionally do a single day "fast" where I drink coffee or tea, lots of bottled water, and then metamucil and protein shakes 3-4 times a day along with my cardiac meds and vitamins.
My advice, for what it is worth, is: If you want to go without eating for a day or two go ahead.0 -
Never see anyone fit recommending it, but do whatever you want to do.0

It's okay to try anything once, even the tip.0

Go for it OP, give it your best shot.0 -
I have fasted for a day recently just to see if I could and it was a really interesting day! Trick is to keep busy. It showed me I can actually say no to food and I will not die and that hunger (for me) comes and goes. I think it helped me to learn about my body. Won't be making it a regular thing but it was a good experience.0
