The damn app cut my protein allocation in half and cut my calories by 10%. What is going on here? It's not even giving me 1 gram per pound. Is this useless???

Unless you modify things, this app puts protein at 20% of calories. So if you cut calories, you cut all macros. The distribution is 50% carbs, 30% fats, 20% protein. But you can do a custom set up: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/my_goals0 -

Did you recently record a weight gain/loss on this? If you did and if your goal weight is below/above what you weigh now, MFP has the delightful habit of changing the calories and macros for you. To prevent this, set your goal weight at a number that you are never going to achieve so that everytime you record a weight gain/loss, this wont happen.0 -
Thanks gentlemen. I'm only 173 and would like to weigh 185 again like I did 35 years ago when I was young, and buff. I may be a bit long in the tooth for that now, but I will give it my all. It just hurts a heck of a lot all the time.0

Epsom soaks are your friend for that soreness. I do at least four per week, though ideally I'd hit one every day.0
