Calorie intake?

I am 5"5' and weigh around 294 pounds. MFP is giving me a Dailey intake of 2400 to lose 1 pound a week. This seems pretty high to me. Thoughts?

How active are you?0

Trying to get more active and take 10,000 steps a day but can't always get there. I am a substitute teacher so I am often up and walking around0

If you feel its too high it will give you the option of 2lbs a week. But I don't think that's unreasonable. Try it. Give it a few weeks and see what happens. If you feel you want to adjust down, then do that. You have to know your own body and what it needs for calories. I am slowly adjusting up, as I felt like I was getting enough calories to have healthy losses.2

Given your initial weight, it seems fairly reasonable. As you lose weight, though, if you want to continue losing 1 lb per week, as you update your current weight MFP will recalculate and drop your calorie intake accordingly.5

I personally don't follow what MFP tells me, I make my own numbers and I count macros not calories.
But mine equals out to 1640 calories on normal days and 1880 on each of my two refeed days. I'm 5'7" and 116lbs. I lift 6 days a week and do some cardio every day of the week.0 -

OK, but since you weigh not much more than a third of what OP weighs, it's not really relevant to her question.1
