Ladies. Question about cycle & diet

Hello
19 days ago I started calorie counting with mfp
I average around 1900 a day to lose a pound a week (in that time I've lost 7lb) I started at just over 20 stone
My usual cycle is 28 days. Currently on cycle day 24 and I can feel that my period is imminent. Can this be affected by my new diet?
Keeping in mind that to get to 20 stone I was eating way more calories than I was meant to.
Has your new diet affected your cycle? I'm eating plenty and only lost 7lb. This has never happened before (I'm 33 by the way)

A 7lb weight loss in under 3 weeks is actually pretty good, especially since you say you're "eating plenty."
A good portion of the initial weight loss is generally retained water being released, especially if you are eating less salty foods than you were previously, or have increased exercise. The only time your cycle should be affected by your weight loss would be at the other end of the scale - cessation of your periods entirely due to malnourishment.
Be aware that your weight can fluctuate dramatically with your cycle. It's not uncommon to see a jump in weight of 5 lbs or more just before your period. Don't be discouraged by this. It's just temporary water retention, will dissipate in a few days and has nothing whatsoever to do with fat weight gain.0 -

The only thing I've really changed about my diet is portion sizes. I still eat salty food, I eat crisps but instead of a share bag I have a single pack... and so on, I log everything I eat too. Once at 22 stone my periods stopped altogether that was about 8 years ago.0 -
It could well be your body just re-regulating things and hormones working things out. Especially as you have lost your period at your highest weight. Or it could just be one of those months that is a little wacky!1

Glad to see that you have a good grasp on the basic principle of weight loss, which is to eat less than you burn each day. Provided you remain in a calorie deficit, portion control is the simplest way to lose weight without completely depriving yourself of the foods you love. It's a strategy that works brilliantly for a lot of people, but, like anything else, doesn't work for absolutely everyone.1
