Operation Samoas Kryptonite

You've probably been approached already by a bevy of colleagues or young women trying to sell you boxed deliciousness in the form of Girl Scout cookies. It's tough, I'm on a ketogenic diet
- but I know personally having been a Girl Scout/Guide and then a Leader how important cookie sales are to the development of young folks, and door opening opportunities and experience these funds can lead to. It's irreplaceable.

Hence: Operation Samoas Kryptonite (or Operation Thinmint Kryptonite).

Samoas are my kryptonite. I am strong enough to resist eating them, but I don't want to take the funding from the troops. Consider joining me in paying the Girl Scouts NOT to sell you cookies. Instead ask them to take the money directly for the troop, or to use the funds for things like Operation Salute or Operation Cookies From Home that sends the cookies you would have eaten to the Troops with support of the USO. I've told all my friends and colleagues about this and every young woman in front of stores selling will get cash for this. I am calculating this in net smiles.

Win for the young women, Win for the Troops, Win for feeling good.

That's a great idea, and the plan fits in with your goals and way of eating.

Last year, I was having difficulty moderating my intake of treats, and though I was thrilled that the Girl Scouts had come out with a gluten free option (I have celiac disease), I made a donation in lieu of purchasing cookies for myself.

This year? I'm going to be buying cookies because they fit in with my goals and way of eating.

I have been giving cash donation instead of purchasing cookies (or chocolate covered almonds etc) for a long time, maybe 20 years. The kids always look happy. I have treats when I want them, but when they're in front of me, I want them more often.

I do buy a box or two for the troops but will buy at least a box of sandwich S'mores for myself.

You can divide the cookies into reasonable servings and keep them somewhere inconvenient to get to

Girl Scout cookies would be better if they were Oreos.

Do Si Dohs could be considered peanut butter oatmeal Oreos.

    And c'mon, there's a s'mores sandwich cookie this year.
