Anyone share their pole dance fitness experiences? :D

Me and my best friend just decided that we are going to start taking a pole dancing class twice a week and I am SUPER stoked.
I was wondering what some of your guys' experiences were on this as far as the fitness aspect and getting the body you want? Are the results super great, any positive experiences?
I also heard it's super great for thighs, as a pear shape I really hope this is true. :bigsmile:

    I took a pole dance class last winter, and it is a good workout. Thighs, quads, glutes and core are all worked when you dance. The studio I went to had flattering lighting, but I had a hard time hearing the instructor over the music. She really should have had a mic on so the class could hear her explain how the spins were executed. This was a women's only class, and we were basically dancing in our underwear as bare skin is needed for proper form for most of the pole tricks. I recommend bathing suit bottoms and a jog bra (or similar) as you will sweat like crazy, and you will need full legs, arms and midriff exposed to really work the pole.

    Ooooh, the more skin thing I am nervous about then lol D: I don't mind wearing shorts, but I am super self conscious about my midriff and what not. I have a really large birth mark right above my belly button that I hate showing off.
    But I've heard the pole dancing itself actually helps a lot with confidence and just an all around feeling of being sexy, which is great for me as I can be pretty shy/timid and self conscious lol.

    I did before and it was super fun. I also did a burlesque and belly dancing glass and had an equal amount of fun. The pole was by far the hardest workout and it takes time to master, so it's great as a workout. I have to admit, I have more confidence with the belly dancing and bulesque strip teases than the pole since I still feel I'm pretty awkward, but once you get a move down, you do feel pretty darn sexy when you do it. I would classify it as "swagger".
