Guys!!! I've ate super duper healthy today and I'm so proud of myself! Thing is, I'm done with supper and I have 800cal left to still eat. I've been eye-balling this brownie mix for a couple days. Would it be okay if I ate it? It will be the first sweets I've had in almost a week. I feel as if now would be a good time to satisfy that craving and stay in my calorie goal range. I am worried though about the sugar.

hey if you want a brownie or two and it fits into your calories then go for it. as long as it fits into your calories thats all that matters. I lost weight eating things like that but making it fit. so I dont see an issue with it

I'm at 32g of sugar for today, which I think most of that came from the mixed berries of my morning smoothie

so? as long as you are within your calorie goal or a little bit under you wont gain weight. sugar wont make you gain weight unless it puts you over your maintenance calories, and that can be said of any macro.if you dont have to watch your sugar for health reasons then youre fine.

Do you think it slowed down your progress at all? I don't want to sabotage myself

I know people would disagree because they're all about the macros, but for me, if it fits into my calorie allotment you'd better believe I am friggen' eating it.

    Yup

Why would it...weight management is about energy in and out...it has nothing to do with brownies.

nope,as long as I stayed withing my calories I was fine. I weigh everything though too, but yeah I still eat what I want as long as it fits and have no issues,The only way you will slow things down is if you eat over your maintenance calories, then even if you did that one day what matters is your weekly weight loss number. weight loss isnt linear so you wont lose the same every week anyway, you can have weeks you dont lose anything or you may gain due to time of the month, water retention from high sodium, waster in your body, working out or just eating more carbs than you normally do. but its not going to be fat.Lots of members here will eat their extra left over calories in pizza, ice cream, etc and have had no issues losing.

oh and I also have a metabolic disorder, its all about calories in vs calories out even for me.
  • Hungry? Eat! Not hungry? Don't eat! You may find yourself hungry in the middle of the night. If so, have a midnight snack.

If I met my protein (the only macro I worry with), and I have calories left, I sure will eat it.

I no longer track sugar, I switched sugar on the diary for fiber.

Sugar is not evil. It's just a carb. If those brownies fit your calories and macros, go for it.

even if she goes over her macro(carbs) but is within her calorie goal she will still be fine.

    That's...not how it works.

It's all a numbers game, don't overcomplicate things by avoiding food groups. If your macro goals can still be hit by including a treat, you don't get extra points for being "extra healthy" and denying yourself. That's actually a pretty easy way to set yourself up for burnout and binges later on down the road.

I weighed everything I put in the recipe so that way I can actually know how much I'm having. The portions are definitely smaller than I expected

Whiskey? That is my go-to if I have an extra 100 or 2.
