As long as it's sugarless and your jaws don't mind, I don't see a problem. My husband chews lots of gum. He quit smoking almost 5 years ago, chewed nicorette for a year and now just chews some kind of fruity sugarless gum. Oral fixation? I don't know, at least he's not smoking.

Oh have about 10 packs stocked in my desk at work on a constant cycle! A co-worked and I chew a lot to stop us from snacking at our desk jobs. We simply stick to sugarless

Sugarless gum still has calories which add up if you're chewing a lot of it.

i'm willing to sacrifice those calories for my gum habit. I dont know what I would do without it!

sugarless gum has between 1 and 3 calories per piece, depends on the brand. I have never seen gum with anything higher than 3g of carb(yes that was sugarfree). so its not really going to be a whole lot of calories really.

Haahaa you just nailed why i quit chewing gum! I worked with a girl who chewed constantly and you could hear her from across the room. I got paranoid that i sounded and looked like her and stopped.

I'm a chain chewer when I get on a roll, but I try to have some self-control. I may or may not be chewing a piece right now and thinking about replacing it with a new one....

I chew gum to curb snacking as well.

I was thinking more from a "don't let your teeth rot" standpoint. 1-4 calories per piece shouldn't affect anyone's weight loss attempts, especially if the gum replaces snacking. I'm sure it would fall somewhere in the margin of error when determining your intake.

Me too :) just be careful that it doesn't pull out your fillings (if you have any!)

At least if you're like me and chew it for hours straight you're burning those 10 calories or whatever from chewing.. which may be the value of the gum itself.

I love gum and I recently found the best product E V E R!!!!!!! And it helped me lose about 10 pounds so far!
http://www.snack-less.com/ - Please read the site and the research - scientific evidence showing proving it works, well...I am living proof!

Welcome to SNACK LESS - Nature's Hunger Buster.
Helping you chew your cravings away and keep slim.

first of all this gum is not a special weight loss product. I can accomplish the same thing chewing regular gum if it prevents me from overeating, so therefore I would be in a deficit and dont have to pay$4 for a pack of gimmicky gum, also one study doesnt prove anything. also http://www.nutraingredients.com/Regulation-Policy/EFSA-weighs-up-hoodia-novel-food-application

http://vts.inxpo.com/scripts/Server.nxp?LASCmd=AI:4;F:QS!10100&ShowKey=37070&AffiliateData=Web-TextAd-BSM17_NIU&Referrer=http://www.nutraingredients.com/Regulation-Policy/EFSA-weighs-up-hoodia-novel-food-application in which they state "the nutraceutical industry is responding with ingredients to help keep those glucose levels under control, from resveratrol to fenugreek, and from extracts from maqui berry and green tea" most of which these ingredients have been proven not to work

about hoodia thats in the gum-https://nccih.nih.gov/health/hoodia

This is why I only chew gum when I'm alone. LOL! I can't chew it without bubbles/snapping... That's the fun to me. I know I'm obnoxious so I keep it to myself.

I have two co-workers that get irrate when someone pops gum. I dont know if they have misophonia, but if looks could kill. I try to tone it down when I am around those two for sure. Although they do certain things that make me want to shake them, but its all good.
