Losing weight but not body fat

Hey, I've been using my FitBit Aria scale and I'm consistently losing pounds, but my body fat percentage is increasing. What gives? I'm new to tracking body fat so I don't know what this could mean.

That scale can be inaccurate. Your bodyfat % reading can change due to something simple as hydration levels.

The only way you'd have an increase in bodyfat percentage while you were losing weight would be losing muscle and if you are eating adequate protein and resistance training, then the chance that you're losing muscle is way less than if you weren't doing those things.

Yeah, your scale (and all consumer level body fat scales, for that matter) uses bioelectrical impedance to measure body fat %, which is a very inaccurate method. I wouldn't put any stock in the BF% numbers your scale is giving you. I use a Withings Body Composition scale and I turned that feature off.

I agree with them. It's best to go to one of those bod pods or places that measure body fat with what ever tools they use. They're more accurate. Most universities have something and it's usually only like $10-$20. I stopped using my scale and starting doing this. My scale never changed and it was frustrating. I would do it every 3-6 months.
