running calories vs. walking calories

I use Nike + running app and Endomondo app to track my runs and walks, and after my workout when i go to the web page and look at the calories i was burning, there is quite a big difference

For example today i was walking around for 3 hours and i walked 18 km total - on Nike + site it says i burned 878 calories. keep in mind, that i was walking, so there should be fewer calories, than what Endomondo says... apparently if i look at Endomondo i burned 1007 kcal. Maybe i'm looking at wrong, but it doesn't make sense to me. Shouldn't i be burning more kcal while running?
The other issue is that when i changed the running to walking on Endomondo page, there was no difference in kcal burned. So does that mean that the difference is only in the web page and how they calculate things? Because there seems to be a massive difference between the two...
Any help would be appreciated

Essentially you will burn the same calories per MILE independent on if you walk or run it. For a 160 lb person that is about 100 Calories per mile. The difference you expect to see will come from being able to run more miles in a time frame than walking. An example would be I can burn 300 calories walking 3 miles in 1 hour at a 20 min pace, or I can burn the same 300 cals running 3 miles in 30 mins at a 10 min pace. Does that make sense? Obviously intensity will play a roll into changing these numbers, heart rate, hills and many other factors, but the most basic estimation of calorie burn will be similar!0

I understand what you are saying and i completely agree.
But i was refering to the point that if i walk 18 km for 3 hours at 6km/h vs running the same distance in the same time and at the same pace?
It's basically the fast walking vs slow running, so it should even out when you think about it logically, except walking is more low impact. Okay should think like this from the start
So this means that the sites which i'm using have different calculations. The difference was 130 calories, so how do i know which one is more accurate. I usually use the one with the lower burn just to be safe. Ugh.
Anyway thank you for your help. If i would just think about it more logically from the start, there would be no need to open a new topic. Damn.0
