Weight lifting bloat?

I have tried to look online and I'm not sure if the information I'm given is correct.

This is new to me, I have a weight lifting app, this is my third week in. I lift 3 days a week, legs back and abs twice a week, arms and chest once...so I'm not targeting a specific area really...

Anyways, I feel really really bloated after working out. My clothes are feeling baggy but I feel so bloated.

I'm still eating 1,500 cals, and I'm training for a half so I'm running around 24km a week (I run 4 days a week now).

Why am I bloating? I read it is because I'm tearing my muscles by lifting, or I'm not eating enough, or not drinking enough water DURING my workout...

For those with experience with this, how have you combated this bloating feeling?

Is it my macros off? I'd still like to be in a deficit to continue to lose weight. I'd like to lose 15 more pounds.

I have never been bloated from lifting weights. There is some water retention, which your body does for muscle repair, but that's in/around your muscles.

No bloat for me either. The scale will jump a little after a tough leg day or an unusually long workout for me, but that's about it.

Are you talking about a muscle pump? Blood will rush to muscles that are worked out. But bloating is an entire body thing, right? Did you gain weight (water weight)?

I think bloating is mainly diet related by retaining water, like when you add extra salt or medications.

Have you added any new supplements or diet drinks? Just curious

Hm... I don't bloat either, unless I ate something that causes me to bloat. I do LOVE the "pumped" feeling that I get after a workout - which is the increase in muscle size thing - but no, I don't get abdominal bloating from lifting.

Do you take any supplements like pre workout or anything? Could it be an ingredient in your supps that is making you bloat?

    Hey!

I do take a pre workout that I have been using since mid November.

I do get that pumped feeling, and I do see more definition especially in my arms, but my tummy is def bloated.

In the morning its not bad, but by the afternoon it is. I'll have to review my food intake. What would cause that? Excess carbs?

The only real thing different with my food intake is breakfast; toast, avocado and 2 eggs.

Only since January have I started having toast for breakfast...I'll cut tht out and see if thats causing it??

If you are new to eating avocado that could definitely be causing bloating. Unless in very small quantities, avocados don't agree with me. It has to be something you are eating or eating too closely to working out. The lifting itself should not cause stomach bloating.

If your stomach is bloated then it is likely caused by something you are eating or drinking. If your body is generally retaining water then that could be caused by the weightlifting.

    Thank you all very much.

I'm going to have to review the foods I choose. I love avocado, just not on its own. So maybe that's wht is causing the issue? Now that I have found a means of eating it, i eat it every morning, about 2oz every morning.

Maybe it's something my stomach needs to adapt to?

I had the same issue when i added a post workout whey protein shake! Turns out I'm sensitive to that kind of lactose.

thank groke for whey isolate. op, 'bloat' is one of those mystery words that always baffle me. it seems to be a euphemism for constipation and/or uncontrollable farting as well as the water-retention issue. so no idea what you're actually saying and that makes it hard to know what to suggest.

maybe you're just one of those people who are more comfortable lifting on an empty stomach.
