I have tried many diets success happens then I gain it back by the end of the year been struggle for a long time need help on what works best and how to keep motivated to keep the pounds off

    From there, buy a food scale and commit to weighing everything you eat. Let MFP set a daily calorie goal for you based on a reasonable weekly weight loss goal. Don't try to lose too much too quickly because you'll likely set yourself up to fail. Try not to be too restrictive with the foods you enjoy eating, otherwise you're likely to fail.

    This is my first ever attempt at losing weight and I can tell you that following MFP's system has given me a very good understanding of which foods keep me feeling fuller for longer, which has really helped me curb my snacking. I've also learned about portion control, moderation, and the importance of patience.

    Finally, try to embrace the notion that weight loss isn't just about losing weight. It's also about learning how to maintain a healthy weight for the rest of your life. The things I've learned in the past two months on MFP will absolutely help me do that.

    I don't "diet" (it has the word die in it) lol When I realized it's a lifestyle and I needed to make healthy choices a majority of the time and how great it feels with regular exercise; it's a no brainer. However I am human so I do fit in the foods I love and sometimes life happens but I just refocus and continue. ***That being said, I try a variety of healthy recipes so that I won't get bored. I do pay attention to my macros and calories. My current program is strength training and some Cardio with 1 rest day a week. Keep trying and find what you enjoy and what works for you. There is such a variety out there

    Pick an eating style that works for you. If you can't stand going low/no carb and will most likely cheat or binge don't do it. Diets are temporary, in order to lose weight and keep it off you need to make a life style change. You can have cheat days while you losing weight and afterwards but if you plan on reverting back to old eating habits after you lose weight you'll just keep making steps backwards until you're back where you started.

    I "dieted" in the past many times regained because I didn't know about TDEE or what mine was.

    So my tip is figure out what your TDEE (if you don't already know) is at your goal weight. This will be approximately what you can eat without regaining your weight. (It's an estimate but close).

    I stopped dieting. I eat the foods I want to eat with overall nutrition in mind within your calorie goal.

    In addition to reading the getting started stickied posts, read the maintenance stickies, don't wait till you get to your goal weight. They will help you plan ahead and understand how to glide into maintaining what you have worked so hard for! Cheers!

    Log everything you eat. Even when you are over (or WAY over) your target. Its gives you a picture to better know yourself. I look back and think why did I overeat. Unprepared, feeling sad, feeling happy and need a reward? Then you know how to tackle those days when they come again.

    The problem is that you diet. Stop dieting. This is not a diet. This is a small change in your way of living. This may be a few small changes in your way of living but it's your way of living as a person at a smaller body size. The person who lives at a smaller body size does not gain for a reason, and that reason is that they don't eat enough to gain weight.

    Yes, do get a digital scale. Learn to use it. Do learn to use the food database on this site. It's complicated but it can be used successfully. Learn to use https://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/search/list to find calorie and nutrition value of foods. Learn to use the recipe tool. All these learning curves can be accomplished quickly, so fear not and learn. Some day you'll need to convert units of grams to ounces or some such, and http://www.convertunits.com/ is your friend.
