Foot pain not from walking.

Options
I just started going to the gym a few weeks ago. My foot doesn't hurt when walking or using the treadmill at all. But as soon as I get on the bike or the arc trainer, within 2 minutes the ball of my foot hurts so much that I end up having to stop because of it. And then it's fine.
I already tried buying new sneakers. Did not help the pain at all.

Any ideas what's going on with my foot? Do I have to strengthen it up? And if that's the case how would I do that. Or should I go to the dr?
Thanks!

You might need to see a foot doctor or orthopedist, since general doctors often can't give a specific diagnosis for these kinds of issues.

That said, forefoot pain is often caused by wearing shoes with a raised heel, which most shoes on the market have. I'm talking about your non-exercise shoes.

Also when you sit, check that you're not sitting with your feet tucked under your chair, which bends the toes.

Have you been doing any exercises where you bounce on the balls of your feet, like jump rope, running, classes, etc?
