Hi, I am looking for accountability partners. If you have diabetes I could really use you as a friend because I'm brand new to having it.

In 2004 I was diagnosed with PCOS. This week I was diagnosed with diabetes. I was the highest weight I had ever been at my doctor visit Monday... 303 pounds. I immediately gave up all sweet drinks, only drinking water and unsweet tea. Just that change alone got rid of what is probably water gain. I am now at 206.7... That's 6.3 pounds lost since Monday (I'm guessing the caffeine in the tea is contributing to the water gain loss).

If you want to be my friend please send me a request.

Welcome. Glad you're making lifestyle changes. There are people in here that were able to reverse their diabetes thru a healthy diet and exercise. One guy did it at 52-54 years old lost like 300# in the process. A good diet plan is what you need most right now so if you haven't consulted a dietician you should do so. If not just google search the foods that are good for diabetics. You're pretty much gonna have to give up grains and refined sugars.

I am diabetic..58 years old..I was diagnosed in Jan 2016..My Dr wanted to put me on Meds I weighed 308+

I said..I would go home and change my life..lose weight..eat healthier...

I cut out almost all soda..(I'll have a diet coke once in awhile now) I've lost over 70 pounds as of today and I am not on any meds..

I eat pretty much what I want to..I simply watch the portion size..diabetes affects everyone differently, so follow your Dr's advice, but educate yourself as well..

    I also exercise daily..

    I wish you well!
