Has anyone tried the sugar detox? I think I would love to try it.

I'm not new to fitness (I tend to be really off and on) but I'd be interested in doing this challenge if anyone wants to do it as a group or something?

  • are you going to cut out all sugars or just added sugars? because at the minute I stick to under 10g of added sugars a day, but do eat fruit and veg with natural sugars in, so would be interested in keeping up with this challenge

Oh I definitely don't think I could cut out all sugars! And fruit is great for you in so many other ways, so in my opinion that sugar is worth it and natural!

Wow under 10g a day is great. I think I'm usually 30-40. Not because I eat much candy, but I'm bad about eating processed foods in a pinch.

Have you noticed any different in your body/attitude/etc. from eating that low of sugar per day?
  • I've been low sugar for years now, my body is quite used to it, however if you go from quite a sugary diet to a restricted one, you're likely to have headaches, dizziness, and other nasty problems for a couple days while your body gets used to running off other nutrition sources instead of quick access sugars. You'll 'crash' as most people put it. However if you push through this initial stage (it's what puts most people off), you'll come out of it feeling more energetic and overall healthier. I have noticed that I'm leaner and my muscle definition shows more when I cut sugar, this might just be a personal thing though, I'm not sure how everyone reacts. I also make sure to have a high carb cheat day every 10 days or so to 'carb' load, and i'll do more high intensity cardio on these days
