I bought some toasted honey oat cereal that has 100 calories per serving I usually have 2 servings but it also has 9 grams of sugar per serving which should I worry more about sugar or calories

The forst question I'd ask is what are your goals? For instance, for weight loss I'd say calories are the most important. But if you're trying to do something like keto or need to reduce your sugar for medical reasons, then sugar would be a bit more significant. Most of us have to choose which nutrients are most important for us, personally, to track. But it's going to vary from person to person depending on their needs and goals.

Depends on goals, as dianne said.

For weight loss, calories are king. (Same for weight gain and maintenance.)

If you are having trouble with satiety, though, changing your diet and reducing sugar (and maybe adding in some protein) can help, or trying a different macro mix (like low carb) which might not work with cereal for breakfast.

For nutrition, it's not really about sugar but about eating a good nutrient-dense diet that covers what you need, but that's harder to do if you use lots of calories on added sugar and if you focus on getting in all the protein, healthy fat, vegetables, and other foods that you want in your diet it's unlikely you will have an issue with lots of low nutrient stuff.

Personally, I hate cold cereal and wouldn't find that breakfast appealing or filling, but that's just me -- if it works for you it's fine.

Ignore all the fearmongering, there's nothing wrong with sugar in moderation as long as you don't have a medical condition which requires you to monitor sugar intake. Make sure you're counting the calories, because calories are king when it comes to weight loss.
