Calculating calories Q

I'm sure there's an easy way to do this, but I'm not the best at math...so if I have a prepackaged item (say a granola bar), and the package says 140 calories for 70 grams (just making this up). But the granola bar actually weighs 83 grams, how to I calculate how many calories are actually in the bar?

140 divided by 70 = calories per gram

Calories per gram multiplied by 83 = calories of whole granola bar.

If I can't find an entry per gram or per 100g, I make one up myself using the info on the package. Then it would be 83g or 0.83 serve of 100g.

    ^^This.

And for other situations, just remember, divide the actual amount you ate by the serving size in the MFP entry you're using (hopefully an entry that reflects the packaging label, restaurant-provided data, or USDA nutrient database for whole foods, as the case may be). Make sure you use the same units (e.g., grams) to measure your portion (the amount you ate) as the MFP entry uses.

You don't even have to enter an entirely new entry. You can *edit* an existing entry to reflect the intended serving size in grams. Then the entry will contain a "1g" option in the drop-down menu.
