Looking for high protein foods that will keep me full for longer periods of time! I have a 10 month old that I am still nursing and I also work full time as a correctional officer. I am trying to lose at least 40 pounds-what should my calorie intake be? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you!

What does MFP say your calories should be? That's usually a good starting point. Your goal should be 1/2 lb a week or 1 lb at the very max. Don't forget to add in calories for breastfeeding.

Personally, protein doesn't fill me up at all - of course, I'm vegan so... I would experiment. See what your body responds to. Each day could be different. It's your body's way, and it's always talking to you. Since your dieting, of course stay away from dairy as your source of protein. Anything else goes! Chicken, eggs, beef, venison, pork, fish etc. Try it all, and no need to by shy - maybe it's 4 eggs, not two or just egg whites. If animal protein fills you up and your body loves it and responds positively, that's the ticket! None of those are high in calories (ok - bacon...yum...I used to consider myself a "baco-vegetarian"!). Protein powders aren't ideal since they are processed. Personally, I'd say if you can go for whole foods and humanely treated sources, that would be awesome. Trust your body and intuition above all else!
