There are only 9 calories in 28g of raw red peppers. The difference in logging that on grilled vs roasted is going to be negligible. That said, it is better to weigh and log raw when possible, not only on the peppers, but meats as well.

ETA: PFFFFFFFFFFFFTTTTTTTTTTTTT you got me

This is why it's generally best to weigh your food raw. Both cooking time and method will have an impact on how much water is lost during the cooking process, which obviously affects the weight of the finished product.

Since it sounds like you didn't do that, I would probably go with grilled in this case.

the one i picked for roasted has 238 grams of sodium. that cant be right.

The entry you used could have added salt or some other seasoning (but not have included it in the name) - that could explain the sodium. 100g of raw red bell peppers only has 4mg of sodium.

149g of red peppers has 6mg of sodium. You obviously chose an entry in which the creator added salt during the cooking process.

Just to clarify, is the 121g you mentioned in your OP the raw weight or the cooked weight?

Also, did you add any cooking oil or salt to the red pepper before cooking it?

Just estimate the amount of raw red pepper that you used and weigh it raw next time. It's not going to make or break your day - red bell peppers are a really low calorie food and you'll probably only be off by a few calories. Just breathe - this is not life or death!

At this point, I'd log them as raw. They weighed more before you cooked any water out, right? You can probably afford the extra 2 calories...

There's a checked entry for Peppers, Sweet, Red, Raw. I'd use that one. Comes out to 38 calories, and 5 mg of sodium.

Also, if you go with the raw entry, tag your search with "USDA", as those entries tend to be more accurate than user-generated entries.

If you weighed 121g of red peppers and cooked them on the GF without adding anything, then the nutrition has not changed.

A smidge is 1/32 of a teaspoon. You can buy measuring spoons that measure smidge, pinch, dash, etc..

ETA: 1/32 tsp is about .15 grams

Are you tracking sodium for medical purposes?

If not, you can just log the raw weight of the pepper before cooking it. The raw weight is typically going to be the most accurate and tracking the salt and pepper isn't going to be necessary unless you have a medical issue that requires you to limit either one.

USDA pepper and weigh raw. If you need to enter the smidgen of salt and pepper you can, but it's not necessary.

The roasted red pepper entry is likely for jarred. Just go with grilled or raw. If you added any oil, add that in. Don't stress about it. :)

Grains. That's how we measure nitro powder.

By the way, if you're wanting to be accurate? Your 225 milliliter of Broccoli could use a bit of tightening up. Milliliters =/= grams

And.. if you're logging everything? You really really need to eat more. 610 for yesterday, 1052 Sat, 610 Fri.. not nearly enough for even a petite woman, much less a grown man.

Hehe, that's where the IF comes in. See what I did there? Though I am going to tease you that you are being anal about the calories in a roasted/grilled red pepper, but not about logging all your meals. Let it goooooooooo (the pepper debate, that is)

cooking them doesn't change the calories, unless you add stuff. Weigh them raw, log them raw, move on.

Friday and Sunday both show 610, but don't have all of the meals logged.

This. If you threw them on a foreman grill without oil I don't understand why you didn't weigh and log them raw. If you put oil on, you can also add that separately.

is this an in joke that is going over my head?? :o

For goodness sake, they are of such minimal calorie level and roasted or grilled is going to make such minimal difference - just pick one or the other and move on.

    *scratches head again*

was just a question i had thats all. Only because the one i picked had sodium so high. Again, just a question. No need to get all annoyed by it. Its a forum to ask questions. i asked. some answered.

    No I'm not annoyed.

    Just bemused.

Or wondering if I missed the point of the joke.

The calorie content of roasted vs grilled red peppers just seems so majoring in the minors to me.

But glad you found your answer. :)

I always think it's so weird when people try to log cooked food. Why not just log it as whatever raw amount you usE?
