Coaching Track at YMCA?

This may be a shot in the dark but has anyone volunteered to coach their kids track team at a YMCA? It's 5-14 year olds I believe and my 7 year old in very interested in signing up. I don't have to coach or anything but I know they always need volunteers and most of my sports experience is from track and cross country. Anyway, has anyone done this? I'm curious if the Y just does track or if it's track AND field and how hard is it to coach 7 year olds, lol.
