Working around injuries

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help me with this since I am a novice when it comes to working out in a gym. I have odd permanent injuries that I have to work around when working out. My hips pop out of place all the time, and it's painful. Second I broke my tail bone a few years back and that is in pain all the time. What I want to know, is there moves when it comes to doing core workouts that I can do to avoid putting pressure on the pelvic area and tail bone. It's hard to do a sit up because of the pain. Also, squats causes my hips to pop out is there an alternative to that? Thanks in advance!

I think you should consider investing in a trainer who has a corrective exercise specialist certification. There are lots of alternative exercises out there. Having someone standing there watching you perform them and being there for safety reasons will help you get the most appropriate exercises for your injuries.

My primary form of exercise is swimming, largely because I have permanent knee, hip, and ankle problems that keep me from doing heavy impact stuff. And besides, I like it!

I might recommend that you talk to an instructor/ trainer on-site wherever you work out to help orient you to how to properly use the resistance equipment. I'm sure there are likely some moves you can do on different machines that would not cause you pain. You'll just need to experiment

I agree about working with a good trainer.. or a physical therapist. You could try splits squats (not Bulgarian split squats) and sumo squats. Check Youtube for instructions. Romanian deadlifts and wall sits could work too. You'll have to experiment.

Do your hips actually dislocate, or do you have "snapping hip syndrome"?

Thanks everyone, didn't think of swimming so I will definitely give that a try. I was always about body weight but after the break, and then having another child I definitely let myself go stupidly and with the pain around the pelvis area it definitely became harder to get back into it so all advice is welcome when figuring out what I can/can't do. Cherimoose my hips literally pop out and they go towards my back. I can be walking and they'll just pop out randomly sometimes. The hard part about that is when your leg all of a sudden drops. Thank you all again!
