My husband bought me my first one, back in 1996. I was pregnant and he wanted to keep in contact all day. I was a Psychiatric nurse at the time and had been attacked by a patient at work when I was about 5 months pregnant (they kicked me in the stomach). He wanted to be able to be immediately contacted if something like that happened again, he is romantic like that LOL

    I did, at 17.

But, I did have a beeper when I was 14, which my parents bought. Lolz.

Husband. It's a Jitterbug. Big numbers, lighted screen, 24-hr. operator service. It calls in, calls out, tells me if I missed a call. None of the stuff I don't need, like apps, photos, etc. I had to carry a cell phone when I was working, in case of car trouble. Now that I'm retired I use the cell phone about 3 minutes per month at most, only turn it on if I'm going into town alone.

Bwahahahaha! I gotta tell a story. Some co-workers went to Myrtle Beach, SC for bike week a few months ago. I was told by one guy that he spotted Fantasia in the crowd but when his friends looked they couldn't see her because of the person in front of her. After doing this a few times and realizing his phone had died earlier he started asking friends/family close by for a phone to take a picture of her. No one had a real phone, so to speak, they were all Obama phones which don't have cameras. LOLZ He did walk over and meet her and get a hug, but no picture.

My husband. I got a puncture in a crappy part of London and had to walk miles to find a phone box to call him. It was so scary!! He went out the next day and bought me a Sagem.

I think it might have being my parents, or they were with me. I was 18, and moving to another small city. Seriously the place had only made city status that year I think. It was a contact thing, as I stayed in a youth hostel and they wanted to chat without always having to ring the landline. It was pre paid, in fact my husband and I still have pre paids, and calls were free between my parents phone and mine. It was the same company and all that.
