Why is my goal protein so low?

Hi, i'm new here and just set up my account. I have a lot of weight to lose and my daily calorie goals are 2,080 at the moment. I have set it to no exercise at the moment. I was just wondering why it has set my carb level so high and protein so low. My "goals" are 286 carbs, 69 fat and 78 protein. I always though that it was usually best to have more protein when trying to lose weight? Is it because i am not exercising so protein isn't needed? thanks for any help

You can adjust it. If that doesn't suit how you feel will be best for you- change it. I've made a few tweaks in mine until I hit a point where I felt satisfied. I leaned towards a lower carb level and increased proteins/fats. Then I made a major fiber bump to increase satiety (cause I was freakin' hungry). I went 40-30-30 I think.
It's never one size fits all - that many carbs would never fill me up like protein, fat and fiber are. I'm about calories right now and not feeling hungry (via macros). I may change and tweak further later.
Doesn't have to be complicated - if it isn't working, you can tweak again as often as needed until you find what works for you.
Edited to add: It doesn't have anything to do with your exercise - it does a percent of calories allowed, if calories increase so do the allowances - you just need to adjust it to increased protein or whatever.
Friend me if you would like - I have a long way to go too. Be glad to help you.0 -
Goals - Change Goals - Custom, then change your percentages. I have my protein set at 30%. which is 113 grams a day. That's about what my lean body mass is in lbs.0

Think of that as your minimum goal. Going into the red on many settings is not necessarily a bad thing.0

MFP's default macros are pretty low protein...I think it's 15% or something on those lines. I recommend manually changing this. Regardless of whether you're losing, protein is more important than a measly 15% of your diet IMHO.0

use the calculators at http://keto-calculator.ankerl.com/ and use the custom setting instead of the default. you'll want your carb count down to about 15% of caloric intake. good luck. but don't use the default, it's set to a high carb count.0
