Please check my math on my "zero" cal sweetener?

It's a stevia, erythritol, dextrose /maltodextrin blend. One serving is 3.5g, of which the carb count claims 2g is erythritol. If the erythritol is .25cals/g and the dextrose is 4cals/g that means 2g is worth .5 cals and the other 1.5g is worth 6? So for 1g the calorie value is 1.7cals??

Well 6.5 cals for the 3.5 g serving works out to 1.9 cals/g, assuming it's well-mixed. But unless you're about to cook with a whole lot of it, does it matter? There's probably at least a 100 cal margin of error every day you log. Also there's really some debate as to how the various sugar alcohols get digested, and if they really have the calories they purport to. Just curious because I've done very low-carb stuff before and never bothered with counting the stevia blends - even for baking, can't really eat enough of it at once.

    Anyway the math works out.

I replied on the friends feed. Got 1.87 cal/g.

Thank you both! It might matter. I can easily eat 50g of the stuff in a day if I have a lot of yogurt w/ cocoa powder in it. :)

How a "zero calorie" "sweetener" can contain maltodextrin is beyond me?
