Can doing portion size be maintainable to keep the weight off

I posted some days ago about JJ Smith's green smoothies. Although they are nutritional and tasty, I am not sure if the smoothies would be a great choice to do for the rest of my life to keep the weight off. When I initially lost weight, I literally ate what I want, but in portion size, and foods such as fried food or high in calorie foods I would only eat on the weekends. I worked out 2 to 3 times out the week for 30 mins. Doing that method seems like something that is maintainable for life. I also only ate 3 to 4 times during the day.
