Gym- benching

Hey guys. After some time off from the gym, I went back at it last week. When I benched, I maxed at 195. Today I benched again (after doing medium weight on and off the past week) and was able to max at 235. This seems to be quite an increase. What's your opinion on this? I have been eating more and watching what I consume..
*any tips/suggestions would be great

how much time off? rest time works wonders. and if you gained weight that would account for some. And a time off can also change your mental state a bit and a lot of lifting is all in the mind. Im sure its a combo of all those things. Congrats on a 40 lb increase!0

If you've lifted heavy in the past, most people find it relatively easy to regain some of that strength. If you haven't lost all the muscle, then it responds quickly to the familiar stimulus of a lift your body knows well. Kinda your body saying "Oh, we're doing this again, okay let's go!"0

Suggestions?
If you took some time off and gained 40 lbs on your bench, take the same amount of time off again and add another!0 -
Thats a respectable bench number. Congrats dude.0
