Top 5 worst exercises

Wow I had no idea leg extensions were so bad! I don't do them often, but will when I want to target my quads especially.
Are there other good quad-targeted exercises I could replace them with? My gym doesn't have a great set up for what he recommended in his video.
Also I've never done a good morning - I should add that! I am trying to work my hamstrings.
If the machine has the adjustment, you can change the start of the ROM so that you are only working the last 30 degrees or so of extension. If you can't do that, select a smaller weight, use both legs to lift then switch to one leg and, again, only do the terminal knee extension.

I do bosu ball squats with dumbbells...they've been great for stability, but the weight is really light...but it's helped a lot with balance and stability. I do them with the bosu flipped over.
The research is not very supportive of the benefits, but I have done them in the past and found them helpful as well. It may be one of those things where they are beneficial in highly specific situations.
It could also be that we are BS-ing ourselves.

could be...I used to have a lot of ankle rolling in my right foot and I feel like it's really helped with strengthening those tendons and I just feel a lot more stable.0 -

So, these bosu ball squats can actually strengthen tendons? Thanks for mentioning that, I've got some research to do.

The main research study that showed no general benefit for bosu training for leg strength showed that the one area in which bosu DID show a clear benefit was in ankle strengthening and rehab.
So there you go -- on the right track all along. I found it really helped me with hamstring strains--but I suspect it was due to ankle strengthening as well.

@Lizarking
Except leg extensions do have a place in the right context.
They were the first step in my rehab from major knee injury and subsequent surgery.
Agree for the majority of people they aren't the best choice but that doesn't mean they are universally awful.
Agreed.

Another vote for Burpies.
Also, in the spinning class world ... Jumps.0 -
I've seen burpees mentioned several times- any explanation why they're considered bad? The video covers why the exercises listed in the OP are potentially harmful and could cause injuries. I do understand many folks hate burpees, but I haven't seen any claims that they are bad in the same context.1

No particular reason for me they just suck!1 -
I just remembered another exercise that is absolutely stupid. Ring handstand push-ups. Seriously?!? They were in the CrossFit games this year. I'd rather not risk cracking my skull open just to see if I can do one. No thanks!!0

I don't know what I was expecting when I clicked this. But it wasn't this. More like...
TOP 5 WORST EXERCISES : no particular order
1.) EATING : Lifting food to your face doesn't count as actual lifting!
2.) SLEEPING : I get it, the corpse pose is nice but it is not 8 hours of yoga!
3.) CRYING :Dispite all the heavy breathing, it's not really cardio!
4.) WHINING : It just wastes the time you could be using doing real exercises!
5.) DEATH : Sure you'd lose the weight but it sure isn't pretty! And it's not like you would be around to notice!0 -
