Hey guys, does anyone else struggle when they visit home/friends house for a holiday weekend? I'm talking like 4 days + and being surrounded with gourmet, amazing food 24-7 that will make you gain like 10 lbs in a day.
If so, how do you guys combat this?

The struggle is super real for me and I just need some really great tips so I can keep on loosing weight/staying within macros/make my goals. I'm prepping in advance for the Presidents' Day weekend and I have 5-10 lbs left of fat to lose before I reach my goal and I don't want to gain any of it all back.

Super grateful for any tips, support, help. Please keep it clean. Thanks in advance, you guys are awesome!

I'm a "foodie" (although I hate using that word), as are many of my friends and family members. We do amazing, "gourmet style" food on a regular basis, so I've just learned to control my portions. For special events - be they holiday meals or weekends away - I usually eat my proteins first as they tend to fill me up the quickest. Moderating my intake of everything else gets easier after that.

Also, I've never really been a dessert person so I usually forego eating any in situations like this. If it's a birthday party or wedding, I'll have a small piece of cake, which I usually don't finish because I'm either too full or I find it to be too sweet.

With regard to logging, I just take my best guess at the portion size and usually choose the database entry with the biggest calorie hit, just to be safe.

ETA: Also, usually eat at maintenance during special occasions.

'Kay, I'm getting maintenance, portion controls, and protein here. Great tip, I didn't know that about the protein! I definitely am going to go for that. Thnx so much!

Proteins, fats and fibers tend to be the most satiating macros. That said, everyone's different so play around with them until you figure out which ones satiate you the most. ;)
