I am having to modify my diet for health reasons, and a lot of what I am asked to eat is close to paleo..... anybody out there have thoughts on it good or bad??? Also is it difficult to find what you can eat? I have only just looked into it so I don't know much yet and want to learn more!

I would just focus on avoiding what you can't eat for medical reasons, and not worry about whether it falls under the paleo label or not. I get the impression you have quite a few restrictions, so don't make your life harder by restricting it even more!

    Agree with this.

I tried it and did not do well. I found it so hard to get enough carbs; my workouts, mood, and sleep all suffered.

I do stay dairy, wheat, and sugar free, that has been tremendously helpful health wise, but I eat rice, gluten free oats, and legumes.

You could try the paleo/primal diet as a base in addition to foods you know don't affect you. If you're not sure what impacts your health, you can do the whole30 or another elimination diet, and slowly add foods back in. No reason to swear off everything. I will tell you that paleo does require a lot of prepping, but It gets easier once you get the hang of it. :)

Tried it for a few months and besides it being insanely expensive, I also developed some nasty digestion issues. Not my cup of tea :p

I have followed the Paleo diet before and had a pretty decent experience. No digestive issues or lack of energy. Here is my take:

    Pros:

-You will eat a lot of vegetables!
-You will get your daily protein requirement.
-You won't be eating much added sugar.(If you avoid the treats or use the treats sparingly)
    -You will reduce your snacking

    Cons:
    -It is really restrictive.
-It is not really intended for weight loss. A lot of the recipes are pretty high calorie.
-Paleo treats. Fat and sugar bombs hiding under a healthy banner.

It is easy to shop paleo. When I ate strict paleo, I still shopped at the regular grocery store. I don't eat strict paleo anymore because it is really restrictive and my husband likes pasta:-)

I highly recommend taking a look at Robb Wolf's The Paleo Solution if you want to learn more.

I do all that without being paleo (or any other "labelled" dietary intake)

I wouldn't go paleo because I don't see the point in cutting out dairy, grains or legumes. However, if I see a recipe I like the happens to be labelled Paleo, it won't stop me cooking it.
So, my suggestion is that you look for recipes that appeal to you and fit with your medically determined food restrictions and don't take on extra rules just for the sake of it.
