Today, a car that was parked in front of me reversed into my car. The funny thing is there was no other cars. Even if you close your eyes you wouldn't hit anything. I guess it takes one incident to mess your whole day. Worse part the driver just drove off. Anyone else had a situation like this?

Man! It happened to me at the train station lot. My bumper had a big dent and I saw it when I came back to the car that night. No note on the car.

When I visited NYC I found it strange how many front bumpers were pretty much destroyed. Learned pretty quick this is not the city to be in if you like pretty front bumpers.

Ya know, I had someone run a shopping cart or something into the side of my car and never did file a claim. Now I've switched insurance companies so it probably would be fraud or something to report it now. Thankfully my deductible was $1000 at the time, so the $1500 I was quoted should sting a little less :s

    But people. Wow.

Oh snap, a shopping cart? How fast were they pushing the cart?

Had to be pretty hard, right?!?

Alright I'm busted! I got asked the same question by a friend. I didn't see it happen but I'm assuming it was a shopping cart based on the imprints made on my car and probably didn't notice the damn thing for days after it happened o:)

Yea, the shopping cart must have been speeding for that kind of impact lol

When you found out you must have been real frustrated and wished to catch the driver of that shopping cart lol

A lady parked next to me started turning too soon when she was backing out, scratching the side of my car. I was sitting in the car at the time and honked before she could do anymore damage. Funny thing was when we got out to look at everything, I actually knew her. She was my coach when I did ideal protein lol. Anyways she gave me her information but I was able to buff it out.

Damn, It must been frustrating seeing your side been swiped.

I'm planning on leaving it how it is, then get the bumper changed. It's not that bad but very annoyed by it.

I was making a left and guy on the opposite side was making a right. Rather than turning into the right lane, like he was supposed to, he ran right into me and drove off. I chased him for several blocks honking until he pulled over. He initially tried to deny hitting me, but I showed him the red marks on his bumper. I was more irritated that he had driven off than anything. I had no interest in having him pay for damages, it just doesn't matter to me that much. My car has more dents than a golf ball, but it's paid for and still runs, so whatever. It was already a horrifyingly long day and I had missed my kickboxing class. I nearly got in some practice with him though.

This sounds just a tad bit dangerous to me! You chased him on principle only?

It was a really bad day! And it was about 9 pm, so dark out. I did text his plate number to someone before I approached his vehicle. It is something that is out of character for me. The thing that made me laugh the hardest is that he was on speaker phone with someone when he opened his door, so probably scared I was going to kick his butt. All 5'2" of me. I may be getting a little brazen in my old age, or my road rage had taken on a new turn. :rage:

Fun to think about, but I haven't been in an actual altercation in 20 years. Sorry someone hit your car and drove off today. That really sucks when people are so selfish.

Wow 20years? That's a record. It really does suck. Random people park their car on my street despite have the whole street empty.

It sucks that he drove off, but I think (per the law) he actually had the right-of-way. If you're making a left, you should yield to the person making a right, even if there are multiple lanes. They're not required to stay in the far right lane when making the turn so that you can turn into the other lane at the same time. Although it would have obviously made much more sense.
I'm not 100 percent positive, but I think I remember reading that when I had to retake my drivers test for too many speeding tickets. Lol. Just wanted to pass along in case it ever comes up again. It's probably always better to yield in those instances.

Citation needed, please! I thought you always had to turn into the lane closest to you, and then use your turn signal to switch to another lane if necessary.

However, I agree that yielding is always a good idea, since right of way is meant to be given to another driver, not something that we take.

Right hand turn into right hand lane as per our traffic laws here. He was in the wrong. Leaving the scene of an accident is even worse.
