needing advice or suggestions please ?

I am 49 yrs old and I have been fighting this weight for years and I have had 1 knee replacement and getting ready to most likely face another, I have Rhuematoid Arthritis and I am a diabetic so eating I think i can control cause with being sick my appetite is not the best or as it should be and I need tips or advice on what I should eat to help me in this battle along with when you can't run or do extreme exercises that are hard on your joint what kind do you do and what helps you the best in your journey ? I would appreciate all help and comments to fix my own personal goal or contract with me to have to face on a daily base ok so I am ready and waiting good luck to you all and I appreciate all your advice that I hope is to come ....

    I have found eating whatever I want but in appropriate portions for my need (adjusted for whether I want to lose or maintain) the best diet for me. For exercise, I just walk and dance.

    I also have arthritis and for me spinning works great. No impact on knees and a great burn.

    Eating in moderation, avoiding fast foods. Perhaps walking will be the first best thing to do. If using treadmill. You can put on incline etc once you slowly progress. You don't want to strain your knee etc. It will do more harm than good. Do some upper body light workout.

    I found to begin, I had to start with 3 frozen meals and 1 preportioned snack (like a granola) a day. While these aren't the healthiest, it kept me under my calorie goal and helped me start understanding portions better. I would eat the healthiest or these preportioned (unhealthy) meals, such as Steamers or evol. I am able to measure my own food and eat better on my own now because this got me in the habit of eating portions and meals.

    I know you are not a senior yet - but I go to a sit & be fit class 3 times a week and we do have some younger members with RA. I have two hip replacements, a knee replacement and a fused neck. The exercises we do there help me to move through the stiffness enough so that I can get outside to garden, pick up the yard, do water aerobics, etc!

    I've never had a disability like that, but I imagine that finding motivation to exercise will be the hardest obstacle to overcome. There's a great story on the Moth podcast about a guy with MS who worked really hard to increase his walking pace. I pasted it the link below if you want to get inspired!     Have you looked into water aerobics, or some other water based class? My mom had knee replacement, and swears by her water aerobics class.

    Low impact cardio and some stretching routines might still be possible, might want to check with you doctor first though. I use hasfit.com's videos on Youtube and started out with their 10 min beginner low impact and 15 min static stretching videos when I was recovering from a twisted pelvis and inflamation on my lower vertebrae. It helped me get back to some sort of semblance of normal activity level. Now using a lot of their beginners strength training to strengthen my muscles up to avoid future back problems. So far so good.

    yes i do i am on a sliding scale with victoza at night lantus in morning and novalog on slide 7 shots total a day I hate them and all this med I have to take

    I will look into this thank you sounds like what I need knowing I am not a senior yet in age but at times I feel like my body is telling me different lol but thank you

    maybe you should go to your doctor to find a good diet for you because as far as I know carbs make you need more insulin but with protein you might need less so you don't have a shock (I m not writing very well because English isn't my first language but I think you understand what I m saying ....)
