Carbs, fat and protein are macros... all food is made up of them.1

Marco nutrients are the Carb, Fat, and Protein.
Micro nutrients are the smaller break downs (ie Sugar, Fiber, Saturated fat, etc) and vitamins and minerals.
Most people say that for weight loss, tracking macros is more important, but that for overall health you need to track the micro nutrients too.1 -

Sugar is a carb (macronutrient). Fiber is a carb (macronutrient). Saturated fat is fat (macronutrient).
Macronutrients are those nutrients (carbs, fat, protein and alcohol) which serve as sources of energy.
Micronutrients are vitamins and minerals which are vital to healthy bodily function.
All foods contain varying proportions of macro and micronutrients.
For instance, milk has fat, protein and carbs as well as an assortment of vitamins (such as vitamin D) and minerals (such as calcium). The fat, protein and carbs in milk provide energy (calories) and the protein can also be used for muscle protein synthesis. The vitamin D and calcium will be utilized in other ways (such as bone development).
Another for instance, most fruit has mainly carbs (while some fruits also contain fat and/or protein). The carbs will provide energy (calories). Fiber, being a carb, will either be only partially digested or not digested at all (the indigestibility of fiber is what makes it fiber). The digested portion will provide energy just like the rest of the carbs, be they simple carbs (sugar) or complex carbs. The vitamins and minerals in the fruit will be used by a whole host of bodily organs for a whole host of functions ranging from brain development to immune system function.
Soda (or pop if you call it what I call it) is mostly just carbs (in the form of sugar) and water with very few micronutrients (such as minimal amounts of sodium).1
