Trying to conquer diabetes?

I'd like some connections with people who are working on weight loss to control diabetes. I have to lose 50 pounds, and have always found it hard to stop myself from overeating the wrong foods. It sometimes seems like my body is doing what it wants to do, while I watch in horror. It's like I can't bear to miss out on eating something that looks or sounds like it would be delicious, especially baked goods or ice cream. I'm 69 years old and would like another 10 years of good health at least, to enjoy some things I want to do in life. The problem is discipline and sticking with it.

I've recently had a spike in my previously fairly well controlled blood sugars and I'm scared enough to feel motivated now. So far, I've had two good days of sensible eating, and would like to talk with other people who have the same issues and can share some ideas and successes, or need some encouragement.

I know what you mean. Was diagnosed hypoglycemic 6 years ago and now have gone the other way. On metformin and 4 to 5 small meals a day. It's getting better.

Done losing the weight and now in maintenance program. I have found for me that if I have about 30 to 40 carbs per meal and 15 to 25 for snacks I do much better in keeping the spikes down.

Sad to say I love all the wrong things and also have the problem of eating wrong at times. I am getting better. Only known about the diabetes for last two months.

Low blood sugars were easy to fix...eat. High, not so much fun.

All my best and if you want to send me a friend request that would be fine.
