Eating a HUGE breakfast before the gym?

When I started I actually began by doing this a lot. I would burn a lot of it off and it worked. I've slowed down voluntarily over the past three years, but I want to know if anyone eats a huge meal before the gym. Sometimes I would eat 1200 in one meal and still loose 2lbs a week. It was nice, but I like being more chill and slow now.
An example of a meal I used to do is a big chicken and cheese quesadilla or a big egg, ham and cheese burrito.

Ditto.1 -
I tend to roll with 700-800 about two hours before lifting. Haven't bothered trying any more than that.0

c. 1000 cals before a really long cycle ride but easy to digest stuff.
Think I would do a "Technicolor Yawn" if I ate what you did!0 -
I wouldn't eat anything right before the gym, but within 2 hours of doing anything excessive. Otherwise I tend to either just have a banana or exercise fasted.0

This isn't how it works though. You're not 'burning your breakfast off'.. you're just burning calories.
For me it doesn't matter, as long as I don't do impact, I can eat whatever I like (but oatmeal before impact = get sick).3 -
I don't eat before the gym. I'd puke.1

Your understanding of how calorie expenditure works is wrong.
On re-feed days I typically eat a box of cereal, skimmed milk and whey protein (circa 1600 calories) an hour before working out. As long as I don't train legs, I'm all good.1 -

Same. If i eat anywhere near 2-3 hours before the gym i'm definitely going to be sick; especially such huge volume.0 -

Lord no. I've never been able to eat a huge breakfast, no matter what I had planned.0 -
I couldn't eat anything like that has I would feel uncomfortable. Don't usually eat anything and if I did it would just be a banana.0

No, I'd be too sleepy to get anything done...not to mention I'd want to puke.1

Maybe if there was a comfy bed to curl up in and sleep off my food coma first?
But otherwise no. I workout fasted. However to each their own0 -
I feel sick just thinking about being sick, but no, I work out at 5am so I don't eat at all before0
-
God no! Puke city!0

Really glad I asked this because it turned out really funny. I had no clue doing this makes or would make people feel sick! Oh, just for the record, i usually wait an hour or two after I eat before I work out.0

Had always thought it was "wrong" to exercise so soon after eating, so definitely no.1

I'd definitely puke if I did that. Max I can eat just prior to the gym is about half an RX bar or a small piece of fruit. Whatever works for you though.0

I don't work out too close to a meal. I also wouldn't eat a huge meal just because I knew I would be working out soon after. I only eat what I need each meal and to the point of feeling satisfied (not full).0

The question is: How big is number 2 after that big breakfast?
Nope, not for me. In fact I don't even eat breakfast and train fasted in the morning. My first meal is usually around 12:30-1pm.

I don't know about 1200 calories, since I eat big dinners, but I like a full brunch before working out. Exercise makes me hungry and I usually run or lift for about an hour. I have no energy and am miserable if I don't eat first. I'm more likely to get dizzy and sick from hunger than exercising on a full stomach.0

when im up at 5.30 and not going to the gym till 8 I'll have 150g plain skyr yoghurt, 50g fruit, 8g chia and 25g bran sticks (300ish cals) .... but if im at gym for 6.30 ill just have a banana and eat brunch when i get back. Not noticed any detriment for lack of cals beforehand0

i have major issues working out on a full stomach ...0 -
I eat a big breakfast and then hit the tennis courts often, (gym is usually in the afternoon). On occasion it's been as high as 1200, but rarely less than 650. Is it just because it's morning that it's so weird to people? Is it equally weird to have a big dinner and then go to the gym after?0
