handy snacks

Ok so I work on a very fast pace barn and from 6am till 1pm I am constantly moving. I am currently trying to gain weight, so its really important for me to get in my calories! I used to be so good about getting in my fruit in veg servings in a day, but with this job I literally am walking and trying to grab a bite whenever its possible. anyone have any suggestions that I could have, otherwise im like eating granola bars because they r soo easy to grab... they r healthier but still... im used to clean eating and with this its making it a little difficult.. my later shifts r easier to eat with its just the morning im having trouble.. help would be amazing! thank you

Nuts are my go to snack because I can keep a bag in my pocket. Also dried fruits if the sugars are okay for you, or you can dry your own to avoid added sugars. Sunflower seeds, even a homemade granola in bags. And maybe try roasting chick peas, has a popcorn like flavor but more fiber and protein. Hope some of that helps, and you can find something to keep you going!

Peanut butter is awesome good protein and healthy fats which keep you full longer. You could do peanut, or any nut butter, in a pita, easy to handle and wouldn't have to refrigerate. You said vegetarian, are you vegan, or can you do a hard boiled egg? Peanut butter in place of the yolk is a good boost recommended even for hypo glycemic because of the staying power.

Enjoy! Everybody needs a good granola bar. Have you seen the chocolate chip peanut butter bites that use chickpeas and honey instead of flour and sugar. Haven't tried them yet but they look yummy and my body does not like wheat. You probably don't have a ton of kitchen time. Some good recipes too at KrisCarr.com that may interest you as well.

1 1/4cups canned chick peas rinsed and patted dry
    2tsps vanilla
1/2cup and2 Tbsp natural peanut butter
    1/4 cup honey
    1tsp baking powder
Pinch of salt if the peanut butter doesn't have salt
    1/2 cup chocolate chips

    Preheat oven to 350
Put all ingredients except chocolate chips in food processor, or batches in blender if you don't have a processor. Process until smooth, scraping sides. Then mix in chips. Mix will be thick and sticky.

Wet hands and form 1 1/2" balls. Place on parchment lined sheet.
Bake about 10 mins. Should give about 14 cookies.

That is the recipe, it warns to use only natural peanut butter or they don't come out right. Sound good cant wait to try them myself. Hope it will work for you, and that you have a great evening and no more starving at work.
