Hi everyone, it's my first time posting, so nice to meet you all! :)

Up till 2 years ago i've been hovering around the 60-64kg mark (i'm around 166cm) then one day I decided to lose some weight to feel better about myself. It took a lot of hardwork (and lots of salads and cardio), but I overdid it, and went down to 45kgs (which was very unhealthy for my height). Then one day I couldn't handle the stress of dieting and cardio anymore and started binge eating till the point I felt sick.

Now I'm about 66-67kgs and I really want to lose some weight to get fitter and feel stronger (not so much as skinnier like before). But I keep getting overwhelming food cravings when I'm cutting back on cals or even when I'm eating healthy! I have no idea how to overcome this :s would anyone be able to help?

Input your stats into myfitnesspal and choose the slowest weight loss rate of 0.5 pounds per week. This will give you the highest calorie goal but you will still lose weight. Eating at this calorie goal you should not even really feel like you are cutting calories- also no need to live off of salad. Try just smaller portions of the foods you normally eat and just cut down on the highest calorie most unhealthy stuff and try to start incorporating foods with plenty of protein or fiber.

Also do you exercise? Doing tons of cardio can increase appetite a lot so if you're getting major cravings because of that then cut down on cardio and try weight lifting or body weight strength exercises instead.

Another thing that helps me cut cravings is to cut down on sodium and refined sugar. Both are appetite stimulants and sugar is addictive. When I eat very salty or sweet foods I never seem to feel "done"- I can just keep eating and eating them. If you reduce these you may find you'll have fewer cravings and feel more satisfied with your food.

Hi courtney! Yes, i'm currently doing a mix of cardio and pilates from apps and youtube videos (but doing more cardio than pilates) :) great idea! Thanks so much for the advice! I might focus more on strength training and cut back on salt (my major weakness)!

If there was a magic trick, nobody would be overweight. Sorry to be blunt.

I'm in the same boat as you, by the way... but in truth I just don't want to lose those 5-10 lbs enough, or I'd have more willpower to say no. You alone can decide how badly you want to lose the weight.
