Knee pain and the elliptical

I dread using my elliptical lately because of knee pain. I think the stride may be a big reason why I now have knee pain. As I lose weight it is getting better, but if I think of my elliptical I SWEAR my knee starts twinging in pain lol. Any tips for indoor cardio I can do that is easy on the knees? I have seen a doctor about my knee and he recommended strengthening the knee and leg muscles so exercise is ok.

Can you adjust the stride setting?

Nope ☹️ I work from home and looking for something to do from my office. I've been walking in circles and switched to a standing desk but it's not enough.

Ugh, I know the pain. It's terrible. I was depressed when I first started working out because my knees wouldn't let me do anything. The person above advised swimming, I think that's the best exercise you may do when your knees are pain, at least until your knees get better.
Personally I didn't swim, I put ice packs when I'm watching tv.., and had some fish oil. But again, everybody is different. That's just what I did to make it better, personally.

How about just walking on the treadmill?

Seriously, some of them may seem a bit silly and dated, but youtube low impact jane fonda aerobics, etc. They really do work! Or zumba if you need something trendier.

Jane has a gazillion videos on youtube, from low impact to advanced, you can stream through a smart tv or roku.

I still have and just used last night, my old jane fonda step routine. https://youtu.be/oHT2JQeYJ2w

Steps can be found new online or the original on ebay or thrift stores. (I still have the one I bought in 1992).

Lastly, you should get a diagnosis on the reason for your pain. Arthritis? Pulled muscle? Torn tendon? I tore my meniscus once when I overstepped on a power walk.
