Don't have pics, but I had 2 dogs a while back. Both from the SPCA. One was a stray and one was given up. The stray was very bright and got into lots of things (cupboards where treats were etc. The other was dumb as a post.
So I'd feed them. Stray would wolf down her food while the other would pick at hers. Stray would finish, go to the window and bark. Other would go to see what the barking was about. Stray would head back and clean up the others bowl.
Without intervention I swear this would have gone on until the second one starved to death.
Both are gone now and I miss them.9 -

I love mastiffs! My girl Ruby is a mastiff/lab mix, she's 17 months and about 105 lbs. from the sounds of it, Paisley is gonna be so huge! #bigdoglove
Me too! She's my first one but hands down she been the best dog ever! Her mom is about 95lbs and her dad is 150! She was the biggest one of the litter so I can't imagine what she will end up being!

Looking at this thread was a bad idea. We have been offered a Australian Shepard puppy but are still thinking about it. Probably on average of once a week, maybe twice a month, we are both gone for 12 or more hours. We both LOVE dogs, but worry about that being waaaay too long for any dog to be by itself inside, much less a puppy. That is the biggest logistical nightmare we haven't figured out yet and the part that worries us the most. The rest is not that bad. Logical brain right now is failing against the cute factor.1

12 hours is a long time I'd look up dog walkers in your area, or ask friends if they can take the pup out those days?0 -

I agree, 12 hours is too long. Australian Shepard's are high energy dogs. It's not fair to them but that doesn't mean you shouldn't get a dog. May I suggest a rescue dog?

Also look into doggie daycares. My dogs go three times/week and come home happy and exhausted. They sleep all day the day after.
