I love mastiffs! My girl Ruby is a mastiff/lab mix, she's 17 months and about 105 lbs. from the sounds of it, Paisley is gonna be so huge! #bigdoglove

Me too! She's my first one but hands down she been the best dog ever! Her mom is about 95lbs and her dad is 150! She was the biggest one of the litter so I can't imagine what she will end up being!

Looking at this thread was a bad idea. We have been offered a Australian Shepard puppy but are still thinking about it. Probably on average of once a week, maybe twice a month, we are both gone for 12 or more hours. We both LOVE dogs, but worry about that being waaaay too long for any dog to be by itself inside, much less a puppy. That is the biggest logistical nightmare we haven't figured out yet and the part that worries us the most. The rest is not that bad. Logical brain right now is failing against the cute factor.

12 hours is a long time :( I'd look up dog walkers in your area, or ask friends if they can take the pup out those days?

I agree, 12 hours is too long. Australian Shepard's are high energy dogs. It's not fair to them but that doesn't mean you shouldn't get a dog. May I suggest a rescue dog?

Also look into doggie daycares. My dogs go three times/week and come home happy and exhausted. They sleep all day the day after.
