Really looking to build some abs, as they’re a weak point of mine and would like to build them for the summer.

As the title suggests, are ab wheels any good?

Thanks!!

I have one collecting dust in the corner. Back when I first started I found it at a Goodwill store for $2 and it had hardly been used. I used it for one day and was so damn sore the next day I thought I was going to die. It put a lot of stress on my lower back as well as my abs. Since then I started doing planks and have been able to build a very strong core and abdomen doing those. I have not gone back to try the ab roller again but I keep meaning to give it another try. So yea, it does work the abs incredibly well, but it also puts strain on the lower back from my experience. I do have lower back problems anyway so it made those problems worse.

You have to be super careful to keep your core tight throughout the whole movement and if you feel your back arching, you know you've gone too far. You may not be able to roll out very far at first while still keeping a flat back.
