Measuring Dry Pasta

I recently bought a box of farfalle and it says serving size is 1/4 cup dry and there are 8 servings. Only problem is, when using a measuring cup, there are 8 cup's worth of pasta. What am I missing? It's still 2oz, but it's definitely not 1/4 cup, it's a full cup.

because measuring by cup is very inaccurate - you would be better to measure by the g along side (I think my box says 1/4cup or 56g) - I go by the g measurement2

Exactly why a food scale is so useful for accuracy.1

Weigh it. Measuring cups are just crappy for some foods.1
