Hey there. My name is Amanda and I live in Northern Virginia. Losing weight has been the hardest thing I've ever tried to do in my life, so I thought I'd introduce myself and see who else is struggling like me. Over a year ago my doctor put me on Zoloft. Since then I've gained 30+ lbs. and have decided to stop taking it. Stopping the medication was hard on me, but after three weeks I have decided to tackle step 2: my diet.

I am a picky eater that loves carbs. This combined with my desk job is not a good combination. I am hoping that MyFitnessPal will be the answer and the motivation that I need to do this. This is my first day and so far so good. Once I get the diet routine down, I will move on to step 3: working out. It's a long and painful process, so I'm hoping I can stick with it this time. The difference is that I have never weighed this much in my life and I hate it.

Any meal recommendations, workout tips, or really any other advice that anyone has for me would be greatly appreciated. I need all of the help and support that I can get. Thanks for listening.

I feel you. I have had a similar journey. I am starting over again and that is the great part! We have not given up. Each day I have to take it hour by hour and just do the best I can. I had a situation that would normally make me go on a binge and I did something different. I waited it out. I sat in my car in a parking lot until that urge to stuff my feelings left. It did leave. I am clearing the "bad" foods from my house and just refusing to buy more. I have a daily food plan and I am sticking with it. I am putting a 64 oz. pitcher of water in the fridge and I keep sipping on it until it is gone. The last phase the exercise is harder but I have set realistic goals and I am taking it slow - at least 3000 steps per day until I can do more. Hang in there and keep reaching out for help.
