I'm not a believer in pushing water unless you find that it actually staves off your hunger (doesn't do that for me). I drink when I'm thirsty and then try to drink a bit more. That will be different for everyone. I was MISERABLE trying to push a certain amount of fluid. I got tired of peeing every 30 minutes at work.

If your wees are clear or a very pale yellow and you are going 6 times a day then you are getting enough water. The amount you need will vary from day to day because of weather, exercise and how much water is in the food you eat.

Just drink when you're thirsty and don't worry about it too much.

My nutritionist said I need a 8 ,8oz glasses a day. I usually go over though. It helps curb my appetite and has helped my skin. I add crystal light.

You should drink enough that you don't feel thirsty or dehydrated and your urine is pale yellow. You can include liquids in food and other drinks so it really isn't necessary to drink X amount of water per day.

Agreed with those that say drink enough water until your urine is pale yellow. Drinking an arbitrary amount is not going to work for everyone. Remember, over hydration is just as bad as dehydration.

Enough to stay hydrated. Everything else is just generalized and arbitrary guidelines.

I live in the desert at right about a mile high in elevation from sea level and I'm pretty active...I'm going to need more fluids to stay hydrated than someone who is sedentary and living in a temperate climate at sea level.

I'll probably get slated for saying this but, don't stress too much about it having to be plain water. A few months ago I tried to start drinking 2 litres a day and all that happened was that I couldn't stay away from the toilet, day or night.
Tea and coffee count (yes they're diuretic but you still get water from them )soda drinks also contain water and so do soups, stews, fruit and veg. The only thing that doesn't is alcohol because it dehydrates (though beer isn't too bad)
As said above,as long as your urine is pale and you're going a few times a day you're doing fine. You might need to bump it up during /after exercise (I find during makes me nauseous)

Edit: on the other hand, don't rely on thirst as an indicator. Some people (I am one) never feel thirsty.

Your body is pretty smart. Just drink to thirst.
