I will NEVER be able to figure out my Frame Size.

I am female and about 5'7

I have smallish extremities...my hands have not grown since I was 12 years old. I measured my wrist today and I think they're almost 6" but my freaking ribs stick out like crazy. They drive me nuts because they feel huge.

My hips also stick out which is why I thought I had a big frame, but I've read that you're supposed to measure your extremeities (like your wrist) and that is indicative of your frame size.

My husband said it's because I have a "germanic build" but regardless, I can't figure out my frame size so I don't really know what my ideal weight would be. I don't want to base it on BMI because that just doesn't work for everyone.

I'm 5"7 as well & I consider myself to have a medium build.
I think my wrists are around 6.5"....and my ribs & hip bones stick out.

Yay, so you feel my pain.

Random, but at least for me...It's really uncomfortable to sleep on my side with these giant bones sticking out. I used to be a back sleeper, but I became a side sleeper a couple of years ago but the bone thing is just blah.

I used to think I had a large frame. My wrists were more than 7.5" - I couldn't wear bracelets because they almost never fit. Women's watches, either. So it was a bit of a surprise for me to find out that I'm quite a bit smaller framed than I had always believed.

I'd go with body-fat testing. It's the best way.

This all the way. Body fat is a lot more accurate than BMI. Between my higher than average muscle mass and larger than average bones (I really am big boned it seems), my BMI puts me at overweight. My body fat is just under 20%, however, which is in the fit range. BMI is more meant to judge populations than individuals. I've stopped trying to get to any particular weight and am instead trying to get my body fat down a few more percentage points into the athletic range.

my wrists are realllly tiny. however, my hips. are not. and the measurement on my chest would suggest a bigger bust, but nope. xP so weird.

I don't really believe in "frame size." Body structure definitely varies from person to person but it's not a uniform variation, different people will have different sized parts. Body fat percentage will be more telling. As for a reason as to why wrist measurements to determine frame size are ridiculous: I was always "small framed" for my height based on my wrist measurements, but last year I gained a lot of weight and my new wrist measurement bumped me up into the medium frame category for my height. Obviously, my frame size did not change, my weight did.
