So after talking to a trainer yesterday she asked if I ever have cheat days/refeed days. I said I've had 1 cheat day since I started my diet. She told me to have a cheat day OR eat something high in carbs and she guarantees I would see a drop on the scale. So I did that yesterday and went over my calorie allowance by like 350 and I woke up this morning and was 1.6 pounds lighter. She said I need to allow myself 1 day a week where I eat a little over my calorie allowance. Or do alternating calories throughout the week.

I've had this result several times. It's probably water weight you were holding onto, which masked your true fat loss. Google "dieter's edema".

1lb in 2 weeks can be very frustrating.

Today i am 1lb lighter then on 10th february. I am quite frustrated too as i have been careful with weighing and logging, and regular gym sessions. I joined gym on 10th and have been up 3-4 lbs since so i wonder if that has affected my pattern.. or wishful thinking.
Anyway i am down finally and off to the gym now.

Only time will tell i suppose.

Weird. I eat more, and I am heavier. Guaranteed.

Weird...'cuz if you don't eat over maintenance, you don't put on fat...'cuz science.

When I'm in a cut I have a maintenance day once per week and it helps keep things moving along. Re-feeds are pretty common.

Yeah that's what she was saying 1 day out of the week to eat at maintance or if I don't want to eat that much then just go a couple hundred calories over.

Yeah I could tell I was retaining some water in my hands. Still feel like I'm retaining a little water.

I am just another dieter not a medical professional but I would think that the procedure you went through could have messed with the water balance in your body. Also I'm not sure what activity setting you have set but if you aren't lifting all day or running as in a waitress you are likely sedentary. If you are using a fitness band to track your steps you are already getting credit for that burn. Don't set yourself as lightly active then take extra calories for your steps as you are actually double dipping. Having said all that, in my personal experience (I've lost 72 pounds) I found that exercise only increased my loss by 20 to 25 percent. Most of it came from a reduction in calories. A two week maintenance could just be a blip do to TOM or your medical test. I would be patient and be sure to weigh all your food. Don't guess at how much you are eating. Log everything you eat including a taste here and there. It all adds up. I was guessing at my morning cream cheese and found I was actually eating 50% more than I thought. The difference is only 32 calories but over and over all day it can add up. I hate weighing my food but it has helped me tighten up my logging. Good luck!

There's days usually around 4 day a week that I'm on my feet from 7am to 10pm at night with the only time sitting is for a few minutes here and there. On days I don't work out and am constantly on the go MFP that is connected to my Apple Watch accounts my steps but doesn't give me any extra calories burned so I wouldn't be double dipping. I currently have my activity level set at sedentary because there's still the 3 days of the week I'm not on my feet running around all day. I typically work out 5 days a week as well. Now when summer hits I may consider changing it to lightly active because I'm usually on my feet 90% of the day doing house work, working in the yard going for lots of walks with my dogs, bike rides with the kids and swimming in our pool.

Yeah that's what she was saying 1 day out of the week to eat at maintance or if I don't want to eat that much then just go a couple hundred calories over.

That's about hormones and water retention. Specifically, a stress hormone called cortisol tends to make you retain water. Eating at maintenance for a day will temporarily reduce your cortisol levels and let you flush out some water weight to "reveal" the fat loss it was concealing.

It's purely a psychological trick - but if seeing progress on the scale makes it easier to stick to their plan, there's nothing wrong with it. A maintenance day never hurt anyone.

My husband and I go out to eat at least once every other week sometimes once a week. On that day I aim to not go over my calories no more than like 100 to 200. I make sure to eat a decent breakfast but have something light for lunch so I have like 800 calories left for dinner. I'm a steak and potatoes person so I have to eat a steak atleast once every 2 weeks or I'd go crazy. I always wondered why the next day I'd weigh less when I figured I would weigh more having a heavy meal thinking it would make me retain water. Usually a 8 ounce sirloin, mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli with a raspberry lemonade.

My favorite food is prime rib and I always got that when we would go out to eat, but the prime rib itself is 800 or more calories so that's off limits until I've reached my goal.
