Back again but this time with a real aim in mind. I have been invited to a wedding in August where there will be a lot of lovely people i used to work with. To avoid them thinking "Blimey she's got fat" i need to become slim and fabulous (two separate things!). All support welcome!!

    Good luck @mumpalump !

My best advice is to read the "Most Helpful Posts":
    http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10300319/most-helpful-posts-general-diet-and-weight-loss-help-must-reads

Also, make sure your weekly weight loss goal is not too severe, so you don't starve yourself:

If you have 75+ lbs to lose 2 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 40-75 lbs to lose 1.5 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 25-40 lbs to lose 1 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 15 -25 lbs to lose 0.5 to 1.0 lbs/week is ideal
If you have less than 15 lbs to lose 0.5 lbs/week is ideal

@Orphia not to highjack this post but do you have to adjust your lbs per week as you enter each weight loss category above? For example - I had 75 lbs to lose when I started. So 2 lbs per week was maybe an OK goal for me. But I've lost 30 so far (yay) and now have 45 to lose. Does that mean my goal should change to 1.5 per week?

Yes, @jelleigh , exactly, you should. Or even 1 lb per week since you're so close to the next level and you might forget.

People say MFP will adjust your goal for you, but it never did for me.

If you don't, you risk undereating, and starving yourself, crashing and burning and quitting before you can finish your goal.

Hmm. Thanks @Orphia . K I will think about that. Honestly I've been averaging 1 lb per week anyhow if I look at my loss from beginning to end but I don't want to slow it down even more. Plus - I find 1600 calories really easy to stay within. Too easy in fact. I end up having calories left over after a good day of healthy food and so figure I will have that bowl of chips and a drink. Thats not BAD per se since I will eventually want to have those things in moderation once I hit my goal. But I would rather drop to 1300, (which isn't hard for me) , lose faster, and then when I get to go back to 1600-1800 for maintenance then it's a breeze.

    Hello mumpalump!

If you can tell us your weight, height, and how much you want to lose before the wedding, we can help you out in more detail. The rate of loss is crucial, people often fail because they tried to lose too fast.
